DPT Consortium
At its November 2005
meeting, the
Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia
approved the Consortium Doctorate in
Physical Therapy (DPT) Program, a partnership of the
existing physical therapy (PT) programs at the Medical College of Georgia,
Armstrong Atlantic State University. and North Georgia
College & State University. Each of the three institutional
professional graduate programs will maintain their own
independent accreditation from CAPTE and operate their
PT programs according to agreed-upon guidelines
established in a Memorandum of Understanding created to
govern the formation and operation of the Consortium and
to do so in concert with their individual institutional
and programmatic missions. Individual faculty will
remain employees of their respective institutions.
The DPT degree will be awarded by the Medical College of
Georgia to those who successfully complete the
curriculum on the home campus of any one of the three
participating members. As the degree granting
institution, MCG will register all students, bill for
tuition (at MCG rate), and fees (at individual
institution rate), and manage Student Financial Aid for
all students in the Consortium. Individual partner
institutions will provide usual student services, plus
MCG will make its Medical Library services available to
students and faculty of the other two campuses.
