Purpose and Philosophy

North Georgia College and State University embraces the philosophy that living in a campus residence hall is an important part of a university experience. The learning that occurs through experiences in decision-making, critical thinking, and taking responsibility within the residence halls will be invaluable throughout one's life.

Any new student or returning student who has completed less than 60 semester hours and is under the age of 23 must reside in a University residence hall if they are attempting 6 or more credit hours. Exceptions are made for students who reside with their spouse, parents, grandparents, or legal guardians within 50 miles of Dahlonega.

NGCSU houses women on campus in Donovan Hall, Lewis Hall, Cleve's Crossing and Owen Hall. Male residential students currently reside in Owen Hall, Barlowe Road and Cleve's crossing. All traditional hall residential students are required to purchase a meal plan and originally assigned the most economical plan, Unlimited Access Plan, which provides unlimited dining at any time when Dining Hall is open. Students living in apartments are not required to purchase a meal plan.
